Is it a sign of the times?
Perhaps. Or perhaps it is something else.
I asked the following question on a news quiz this week: "Name any three presidential candidates not counting Sen. John McCain." He was omitted because he was mentioned as a candidate in a previous and unrelated question.
Perhaps 1/3 of the students were able to identify three. A sizable number named two. The most frequently listed names: Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and Rudy Giuliani.
Read into any of this what you will.
