Wolf Blitzer is going to explode...

...if he doesn't get the chance to announce live who Barack Obama's running mate is. I'm watching CNN in my hotel room as I catch up on e-mail and other issues, and Blitzer is reminding me and his viewers that Obama's decision could be revealed at any time.

No, really? I'd have never figured that out.

What I find more relevant (and more disconcerting) is that Blitzer is using the pronoun "we" at certain times that I find uncomfortable. I mentioned in a post a day or two ago that the people who are choosing to provide their cellphone and other personal information to the Obama campaign will be getting the "news" of Obama's running mate before it's announced to the public. It appears to me that Blitzer is among those people.

Now, it's easy enough to say that being in the know about this announcement is essential to Blitzer and his colleagues. I would agree with that. And I'll admit that if I were a political reporter that I would have provided that information to the campaign.

What bothers me is that Bliltzer is relishing (at least I think he is) being among those who will receive that text message. In short, I think his objectivity -- and there's that dreaded word again -- is being tested.

I wish I had three televisions in this hotel room of mine -- I'd love to see how CNN, FOX and MSNBC will cover the important Obama announcement whenever it happens.
