Granted, the disgraced South Carolina governor brought this attention on himself, through his ridiculous claims about hiking the Appalachian Trail when he was instead in Argentina carrying on an extramarital affair.
But now the situation is different. The governor is getting a divorce, his wife has moved out of the governor's mansion, and he (and I use these words carefully) can engage in whatever personal activities he chooses. So, I see no reason why a national news network should report about a weekend he spent in Florida with that same Argentine woman.
Of course, I'm presuming the governor paid for this trip on his own dime. If he didn't, then it's not his morality he needs to defend; it's his professional ethics.
