...but we still don't know why.
The arrest late last night of a naturalized American citizen from Pakistan could tell us who was behind the failed attack in Times Square over the weekend, but it doesn't tell us why. (It also doesn't tell us how broad a conspiracy this might have been.)
If the man who was arrested is indeed behind this amateurish attempt at terrorism, then it would come as no surprise that a botched use of modern technology -- a disposable cellphone -- provided an important break in the case. He will appear in a New York court this morning, when formal charges against him are expected to be read.
I reiterate something I posted last night -- it is still too soon to determine if this is an isolated, one-man band type effort, or a broader, international conspiracy.
