Tail Waggin' Tutors

The Moretti boys and about eight other kids spent an hour in our local library tonight reading.

What's the big deal? you ask. They were not reading to themselves, their siblings or their friends.

No, they were reading to dogs.

Each month, our library holds a Tail Waggin' Tutors hour during which area kids have a chance to grab their favorite book, get on the floor with a dog and read to it. After a few minutes, they then move on to another pooch, so that by the end of the hour they've had a chance to hang out with perhaps 7 or 8 of man's best friends.

Dogs big and dogs small -- all of them involved in an area therapy program -- had a great time. (No, I'm not Dr. Doolittle; I don't talk to the animals. But you know a happy dog when you see one!) Oh, yeah, the kids had a blast, too.

The parents weren't complaining either!
